Fall Programs

Check out the exciting things we have happening this fall for all ages!

**All groups will meet at 1170 E. Joiner Pkwy in Lincoln, CA, beginning the week of August 26th and running through November 22nd unless otherwise noted. By registering for programs, you also automatically become a member of The Culture House and receive exclusive opportunities and discounts.**

Clubs

Foundry Art Club at Glen Edwards Middle School

Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00pm

Welcome to Art Club! If you’re a GEMS student, stop by the Foundry each Wednesday between 3:30 and 5:00pm to create a variety of art projects. This program is covered by scholarships, and all students participating in this program receive free submission to the Fall Showcase art gallery.

Sewing Club

First Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:00pm (Dates: Sept 3, Oct 1, Nov 5, and possible additional class)

For high school students and adults, this intergenerational sewing club walks participants through the basics of sewing through hands-on learning and projects. This fall, we will be focusing on creating a simple quilt as well as answering your burning questions about this art form! (Cost: $50 +$25 materials fee)

Writing Club

Third Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:00pm (Dates: Sept 24 (note shift to fourth Tues due to instructor schedule), Oct 15, Nov 19, and Dec 17 (tentative))

For high school students and adults, this intergenerational writing club is a chance to explore the art of writing through a variety of quirky, thoughtful, and unique prompts. From poetry to prose, participants will have the opportunity to share their stories and receive feedback from professionals, peers, and special guests in a positive learning community. (Cost: $75)

Youth Ukulele Club

First and Third Wednesday of the month from 5:00-5:30pm

Jump in to ukulele basics with this course for students in grades 2 through 8! Students will learn the basics of playing this instrument, from chords to strumming and performance techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in our Fall Showcase as well! For those bringing your own ukuleles, make sure they are soprano ukuleles and have geared tuning pegs (if you’re not sure, just ask!). If you would like to rent a ukulele for the semester, we have a few available. Please indicate this on your form–first come, first serve! (Cost: $100 + $15 ukulele rental fee (optional))

Community Ukulele Club

First and Third Wednesday of the month from 5:00-6:00pm

For high school students and adults, this intergenerational course will overlap instruction time with the youth ukulele club for a half hour of community music-making and then have an additional half hour for continued instruction. (Let’s be honest, those fingers do get tired!) Including ukulele basics, opportunities to choose your own songs to learn, and performance techniques, all ages are welcome to explore a fun new hobby as well as support our young performers in our Fall Showcase! For those bringing your own ukuleles, make sure they are soprano ukuleles and have geared tuning pegs (if you’re not sure, just ask!). Choirs

Children’s Choir

Every Thursday from 4:00-5:00pm

Students in Grades 2-5 are invited to discover the joy of singing through this energetic and fun-filled group. Drawing from a variety of styles and genres, children will learn the basics of vocal production and performance techniques in a positive and supportive environment and perform in our Fall Showcase! (Cost: $150 + $30 music fee)

Youth Choir

Every Thursday from 5:30-6:30pm

Always wanted to learn how to sing? Want to spend time with friends in a fun environment? Students in middle and high school are invited to explore their musical interests in this engaging and low-pressure setting. Working closely with the director and with peers, students will have the opportunity to discover and build new skills and collaborate, including performing in our Fall Showcase! (Cost: $150 + $30 music fee)

Community Choir

Every Thursday from 7:00-9:00pm

Whether you are a beginner who’s always been curious about singing or someone with years of experience, all are invited to join their hearts and voices in this uplifting ensemble. There’s something for everyone, from modern hits to beloved classics. Come be a part of a unique community of music admirers and aficionados! (Open to college students and beyond) (Cost: $150 + $30 music fee)
